Four days to go….

Four days to go to the Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival and a much more promising day!

Still lots of cloud around but at least it was dry for the most part.  Hard to see, but there is a rainbow in the middle of this picture which I took earlier this morning. 

We were being watched as we headed down for our usual walk.  There was lots of activity this morning…I could hear Swans out on the river and saw several groups of them flying, some headed up the Harrison, others just seemed to be resettling themselves.  There were also several flocks of geese or swans really high up – so high you could barely make them out.

Mid-day and the sun had almost peeked out!  the water level has crept up again.

Got over to the log bay and is that swans out there?

Yes it is! – these appear to be Trumpeters….this was one group of them…

and here was another, all having a mid day snooze!

Lots of Eagles out there today too….started to count…would put a ‘guesstimate’ of about 300.

Golden Crowned Kinglets (above) and Black Cap chickadee’s were busy in the bushes by the viewing platform.

and a Northern Harrier rounded out the species count as we headed for home.   Of course there had been lots of the usual, Mallard, Green Wing Teal, American Wigeon and Glaucous Wing Gull.
