Snipe

Not much to report today…

December 3, 2010

It was nice and sunny – in fact felt down right warm in the sunshine although we’d had a slight skiff of snow mixed with rain over night.

The bushes were silent except for a small flock of Gold Crown Kinglets…

Snipe (in middle of picture)

only sighting of note was a Wilson’s Snipe (the small white spot in about the middle of the picture)

Wilson's Snipe - labeled for blog

I’ve inserted this ‘file’ picture just to show what a Snipe looks like – the above photo was taken at Tunkwa Lake, B.C. in 2005.

Back to today, I guess if you really tried you could have counted about a hundred eagles between those scattered on the flats and those riding the thermals over head.  A few ducks, just the usual Mallard, American Wigeon, with a few Green Wing Teal and a pair of Gadwall added to the mix.  Not even all that many gulls today.
