A few more eagles

Well there were a few more Bald Eagles out there today....


there are 7 in this photo....27 seen in total but we aren't holding out a lot of hope for it being a 'big' year.  Weaver Creek spawning channel opened today and already they are saying to not expect much as the numbers of returning salmon this year are so low.  Sad.


also sad is this....the log 'bay' isn't much of a bay anymore...how are any salmon that do arrive, spawn, when there is no water?  All of that erosion that has filled it in is human caused....


the first bay is in a bit better shape but the entire area is silting in....hard to say where it is all headed....

Wanted to show this....


a King's Cup Gentian.  This is the first one I've found in the grasslands this year which is really strange.  There are normally quite a few of them out there.  This is a plant that is getting rarer and rarer as habitat like the one at the estuary keep disappearing.
